Black Stars assistant coach, John Paintsil believes the latest Ghana Premier League sponsorship for clubs will help lessen the burden of owners.
Last week the Ghana Football Association announced a new deal with Adesa Production for the coverage of the upcoming campaign.
Each of the 18 teams in the Ghanaian top division will receive a whooping GHC1m from the sponsorship.
Painstil welcomes the news of the deal and insists it is a huge relief for club owners following a period without sponsorship for the league.
The 18 million GHC for the GPL clubs is a big boost; it will lift the stress of the club owners. People who are running football in Ghana are getting tired without sponsorship from anywhere,” Paintsil told reporters during the unveiling of another deal between the FA and MTN.
The former Ghana player was at the announcement of the new sponsorship, where MTN, a mobile telecommunication giant, will pump $2m into four national teams including the Black Stars.
Paintsil, however, will join the rest of the technical team led by Otto Addo to prepare ahead of next month's World Cup qualifiers as Ghana faces Chad and Mali.
The Ghana Premier League will also commence on September 12.
