Ghana FA President Kurt Okraku has praised the Black Queens for their passionate performance at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, saying they showed the heart of a team willing to give everything.
The Black Queens captured bronze after a thrilling 1â1 draw and 4â3 penalty shootout victory over South Africa in Casablanca. The win not only ended Ghana’s long wait for a WAFCON medal but also reignited hope around the women’s national team.
Okraku emphasized the power of proper planning and support from Ghanaians, noting that such unity helped the team thrive.
“What the girls showed is the commitment of a team, a team that is united. And a team that is prepared to share their last blood,” as aired by Peace FM.
The players returned to Accra to a hero’s welcome. Celebrations included visits to the Parliament of Ghana and Jubilee House, marking a moment of national pride for their courage, resilience, and renewed promise for the future of women’s football in Ghana.
