Black Queens midfielder Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah has praised the unity and determination within the squad following their emphatic victory over Tanzania at the 2024 Womens Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Ghana sealed a commanding 4-1 win against the Twiga Stars on Monday night at the Stade Municipal de Berkane, securing a spot in the quarterfinals despite a difficult start to their campaign.
Speaking after the match, Boye-Hlorkah, who was born in England, highlighted the teams togetherness as a key factor in their turnaround.
We were not playing to their game. When we are actually playing football, we combine with each other. When we got it down, we were able to play. The result is amazing, the performance even better. The girls put in a great shift, she added.Goals from Princella Adubea, Alice Kusi, Evelyn Badu, and Boye-Hlorkah herself wrapped up a dominant display that saw the Black Queens finish second in Group C and progress to the knockout stage.
Ghana will now turn their attention to a quarterfinal clash against Algeria, scheduled for Saturday, July 19, at 17:00 GMT at the Stade Municipal de Berkane.
