Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Toku leaves OH Leuven after contract termination
Belgian Pro League side OH Leuven has officially parted ways with Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Toku, ending a chapter that began with promise but was ultimately marred by injury and limited opportunities.Toku joined the club in January 2023 from Bulgarian outfit Botev Plovdiv, where he had steadily built a reputation as a skilful and industrious midfielder. His move to Leuven was seen as a step forward in his career, with expectations high among fans and club officials alike.Unfortunately, his debut for the club was short-lived. Just 22 minutes into his first match against KAA Gent, Toku suffered a serious injury that would rule him out for a large portion of the season. The injury setback disrupted his momentum and made it difficult for him to establish himself in the squad. After a lengthy period of rehabilitation, the former Ghana U17 and U20 standout made a return to full fitness but struggled to break into the starting lineup. He featured in only two additional matches for Leuven, prompting loan moves in search of regular playing time.He first joined Danish side Aalborg BK and later moved to AEL Limassol in Cyprus. Now a free agent following a mutual agreement to terminate his contract, the 24-year-old midfielder will be looking to reignite his career.
