The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially approved the request by Division One League side Bekwai Heroes FC to change its name to Ashgold FC, following a formal application submitted by the clubs owners.
The approval comes after the club fulfilled all legal and administrative requirements, including the submission of relevant documentation confirming the successful re-registration of the club under the new name, Ashgold Football Club Limited.
In a letter addressed to the club, the GFA stated:
We acknowledge receipt of the letter from BEKWAI HEROES FOOTBALL CLUB LTD requesting approval for a change of your clubs name from BEKWAI HEROES FOOTBALL CLUB LTD (an incorporated company) to ASHGOLD FOOTBALL CLUB after a board resolution.
The GFA also acknowledges receipt of the incorporated documents of the change of name to ASHGOLD FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED from the Registrar Generals Department, attached with Registration Number CS008490121 and TIN C0058494634. The GFA notes that the change of name has been carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Companies Act, 1963 (Act 179).
Following a review of the submitted materials and verification of legal compliance, the GFA confirmed its approval of the name change, effective immediately. However, the Association has outlined a key condition attached to the approval:
All documents, rights and obligations including but not limited to debts or fines owed to the GFA, player registration licenses or fees, and the historical records of Bekwai Heroes FC shall remain valid and shall continue in force under the new name, Ashgold Football Club.
The rebranding marks a significant milestone for the club, which will now operate under the historic and widely recognized Ashgold SC identity. The move is expected to usher in a new era of ambition and repositioning within Ghanas Division One League.
