

Anchored by Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, Ghana’s quartet including Ibrahim Fuseini, Benjamin Azamati, and Joseph Paul Amoah stood out running in the rains and against tough competition to clinch the fourth position in a time of 37.93 seconds in the finals of the men 4x100m relay on the final day of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, won by the United States.
The team yesterday September 20, 2025 won Heat 2 to qualify for the finals with a time of 37.79, setting a new national record.
The US team powered by Noah Lyles took the gold, setting a world lead time of 37.29 seconds and defending the title they won in Budapest 2023. Canada took the silver in 37.55 seconds and the Netherlands won bronze in a national record time of 37.81 seconds.
The Botswana relay team had earlier in the day made history as the first African country to win gold in the 4x400m relay.
Anchored by Collen Kebinatshipi, winner of the individual title, team Botswana won gold at a 57.76 seconds, edging out the United States and South Africa.
