A trader has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court following investigations into a viral TikTok video containing threats against President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama.
Prince Ofori, also known as Fante Comedy, was charged with offensive conduct conducive to breach of the peace and knowingly permitting an electronic communication service to be used for offensive communication.
He pleaded not guilty before Mrs. Evelyn Asamoah, a High Court Judge sitting with additional responsibility as a Circuit Court Judge.
The Ghana News Agency gathered that Yayra Abiwu, alias AY, an accomplice, was absent due to medical admission at the Police Hospital, while a third suspect, Alberta Okrah, alias Ghana Jollof, is currently at large.
The court granted Ofori bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with three sureties and directed him to report to the police every Monday.
He was also ordered to deposit his passport with the court registry.
Ofori is expected to reappear on August 25, 2025.
Defence counsel, Mr. Gary Nimako Marfo, argued that Ofori was not a flight risk and had been invited, not arrested, by the police.
He stated that the phones used in the alleged TikTok broadcast were in police custody and that remanding the accused would serve no purpose.
The prosecution, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Emmanuel Haligah, requested remand, citing the early stage of investigations and the need to comply with the 48-hour rule.
The prosecution said the complainant was the Republic of Ghana and that in August 2025, Ofori and Okrah hosted a livestreamed TikTok session during which they made offensive remarks against Sammy Gyamfi and issued threats against the President and First Lady.
Statements allegedly made included: “We will kill the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama and kill him again, in a plane, we will make sure we kill that Mahama.”
The prosecution said the accused actively participated in the session and knowingly permitted their platform to be used for disseminating the offensive content.
A forensic capture of the livestream was obtained as evidence
