

The police in Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo District of the North East Region have arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in the murder of a 70-year woman, Noab Bilatukin, at Sangbana village near Bunkpurugu.
The four suspects; Suuk Jakwa, 67, Banyiwoo Ntookwib, 32, Moapya Kwayaja, 30, and Amos Nlaji, 29, accused the deceased of being a witch and lynched her on July 10, 2025.
Among other suspects now at large, the four fled the village after their criminal act but luck eluded them and they were arrested.
A press release issued by Deputy Superintendent of Police Robert Anabiik Anamain of the Police Public Affairs Unit, North East Region, copied to the Ghana News Agency, said four days later, based on tangible intelligence, the Police arrested the four suspects at their various hideous at villages around Bunkpurugu.
“The suspects are being interrogated and will be put before court after investigation,” the release said.
“The police would like to reiterate our call on the public, especially citizens of the North East Region, to desist from the practice of accusing people, especially the aged, of being witches or wizards and subjecting them to violent attacks,” the release said.
“Persons who engaged in this act will be dealt with legally when caught.”
