GHANA FOOTBALL Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has urged Asante Kotoko to make the nation proud as they prepare for the 2025/26 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.
Mr. Simeon-Okraku visited the Porcupine Warriors at their training camp in Akropong on Friday, August 22, where he interacted with players and technical staff.
He assured the squad of the GFA’s full support as they return to continental competition for the first time since 2022.
“As representatives of Ghana on the African stage, you carry the hopes of an entire nation,” he told the players. “We at the FA are firmly behind you and believe you have what it takes to succeed.”
The GFA President reminded the team of their responsibility to millions of supporters across the country, stressing unity, discipline and teamwork as keys to success.
He urged Kotoko to draw inspiration from Dreams FC’s surprise semi-final run in the competition two seasons ago.
“The expectations of the great Ashanti Kingdom and Ghanaians are huge. When you stay united and work for each other, you can achieve anything. Listen to the technical team and make us all proud,” he added
Kotoko will face Nigeria’s Kwara United in the preliminary round, hosting the first leg in Ghana between September 19–21 before traveling to Ilorin for the return fixture from September 26–28.
Mr. Simeon-Okraku’s visit forms part of a broader initiative to motivate Ghana’s continental representatives, including Bibiani Gold Stars and Police Ladies FC.
