Otumfuo being informed about Daddy Lumba’s death by the bereaved family
THE ASANTEHENE, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has reportedly urged the family of Charles Kwadwo Fosu aka Daddy Lumba, to unite and give a befitting burial to the late music legend.
He also expressed sadness about the sudden passing to eternity of the top musician, who has entertained millions of music lovers in the country with his melodious lyrics for over three decades.
According to the Asantehene, he has given the bereaved family the green light to prepare for the one-week observance and grand funeral rites of the late musician, to honour his memory.
The Abusuapanin of Daddy Lumba’s family, Kofi Owusu Boahen, disclosed that Otumfuo gave the above advice to the bereaved family when they visited him at Manhyia Palace on Monday.
According to Kofi Owusu Boahen, who was speaking to journalists in Manhyia Palace, Daddy Lumba is the grandson of Otumfuo, so the family decided to officially inform the king about his death.
“I said I will never comment about Daddy Lumba’s death in public, especially regarding arrangements for his one-week observance and grand funeral rites until I inform Otumfuo about his death.
“Today, the family has been able to inform the Asantehene, our overlord, who is Daddy Lumba’s grandfather, and he has given us the permission to start preparations for his final funeral rites,” he disclosed.
Kofi Owusu Boahen stated that Otumfuo also advised the bereaved family to start preparations for the funeral rites and report back to him, adding that “we will do exactly what the King has asked us to do.”
He said now that they have been able to deliver the sad news to the Asante Monarch, the family would soon come out with all the preparations towards achieving a befitting burial for Daddy Lumba.
Kofi Owusu Boahen, on behalf of the family, also thanked Ghanaians for the support and love that they have shown to Daddy Lumba even in death, urging them to remain calm as the family plans his funeral rites.
