Faustilove Appiah Kannin
The newly appointed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi West, Faustilove Appiah Kannin, yesterday, held a solemn thanksgiving service at Calvary Baptist Church in Obuasi to express her heartfelt gratitude to God for her elevation to the high office.
Clad in white, Madam Appiah Kannin was accompanied by family members, political allies, party executives, and a large gathering of supporters—all dressed in white to symbolise purity, victory, and thanksgiving. The atmosphere in the church was filled with songs of praise, worship, and jubilation as the congregation joined her in celebrating this significant milestone.
In a brief address to the congregation, the MCE recounted her political journey, including her previous bid as the parliamentary candidate for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), where she narrowly lost to the New Patriotic Party’s Kwaku Kwarteng.
She noted that despite that setback, her faith in God never wavered, and her new appointment as MCE is evidence of God’s divine timing and favour.
“What seemed like a disappointment in the past has turned into a divine elevation today. I thank God for His grace and for this opportunity to serve the people of Obuasi West. I remain committed to the development of our municipality and the wellbeing of its people,” she said.
Madam Appiah Kannin also extended appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama, the Minister for Local Government, and the NDC leadership for reposing confidence in her leadership.
Delivering the sermon, Rev. Harrison, the resident pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, commended the MCE for acknowledging God in her political journey. He urged her to lead with integrity, humility, and wisdom and to see her position not as a privilege but as a responsibility to serve her community faithfully.
“Leadership is a call to service, and Kannin’s decision to begin this new chapter with God is commendable. May she be a light in public office,” the pastor noted.
The thanksgiving service concluded with fervent prayers for wisdom, guidance, and strength for the MCE, as well as peace and prosperity for the entire Obuasi West Municipality.
Madam Faustilove Appiah Kannin’s appointment has been widely welcomed by residents, many of whom believe her experience, humility, and community-focused approach make her well-suited for the role.
