La Bianca Company Ltd has introduced newly packaged 1kg and 2kg meat and poultry products onto the market, a strategic move aimed at improving affordability, widening access and enhancing food security, while reinforcing support for government’s Akokor Nketenkete initiative.
The product launch, held at the company’s premises in Tema, forms part of La Bianca’s vision to reach every household in the country by 2027.
The new range comprises nine carefully selected and expertly portioned products: chicken backs, soft thighs, hard thighs, drumsticks, chicken wings, turkey wings, local chicken soup mix, foreign chicken soup mix and meat soup mix.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of La Bianca Company Ltd, Nathaniel Etse Gadegbeku, said the introduction of the smaller pack sizes reflected the company’s continued growth, commitment to innovation and dedication to meeting the evolving needs of consumers and the poultry industry.
According to him, the 1kg and 2kg packs are designed to meet the needs of modern families, students and individuals who value freshness, convenience, quality and reliability. Each pack, he noted, is precisely portioned to make cooking easier and stress-free.

Mr. Gadegbeku said La Bianca has continued to invest heavily in advanced technologies, modern processing systems and world-class quality assurance standards, enabling the company to deliver safe, hygienic and convenient products that meet the expectations of today’s consumer.
He added that the new product lines further position La Bianca as a forward-looking agribusiness player, combining commercial growth with social impact, while strengthening confidence in the long-term success of the Akokor Nketenkete initiative.
“We are all aware of government’s bold and forward-looking Akokor Nketenkete initiative, designed to empower local poultry farmers, especially smallholders, to produce more, earn more and contribute more strongly to the country’s food system.
As a company deeply rooted in the poultry value chain, we see this not merely as policy, but as a shared opportunity,” he said.
Mr. Gadegbeku emphasised that the company’s commitment to local production remains unwavering, noting that empowering producers, equipping them with capacity and linking them to reliable markets is critical to the growth of the domestic poultry sector.
He explained that the new product lines form part of a broader strategy to expand local processing capacity and create more opportunities for farmers to participate competitively in the value chain.
As part of the launch, La Bianca commissioned a new 24-hour production line to meet growing demand, reaffirming its readiness to support local capacity growth and partnerships that will enable farmers to thrive under the Akokor Nketenkete programme.
The Member of Parliament for Tema East, Isaac Ashai Odamtten, commended La Bianca for its significant contribution to the local economy, describing the company as a strong supporter of livelihoods and a model for continuity and excellence in family-owned businesses.
He described La Bianca as a key multiplier of the Akokor Nketenkete initiative, noting that its operations provide a ready market, create jobs and empower industry players.
“As government continues to create an enabling environment for its policies, private sector participation such as that of La Bianca makes the impact far greater,” he said.
The outgoing President of Women in the Poultry Value Chain, Victoria Norgbey, identified marketing as one of the major challenges facing poultry farmers and applauded La Bianca for setting the pace.
She expressed optimism that the partnership would help restore the sector to its former strength.
President of the Ghana National Association of Poultry Farmers, George Dasah, stressed that locally produced chicken is healthier and that the industry’s long value chain has significant job creation potential.
However, he noted that many of these jobs are currently created outside Ghana due to imports.
He said the introduction of the 1kg and 2kg packs would make poultry products more affordable for low-income households, while creating additional jobs as La Bianca scales up production using locally sourced chicken.
Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary of the Importers and Exporters Association, Sampson Asaki Awingobit, said importers prefer to buy quality poultry products produced locally rather than import them.
He commended government’s day-old chick initiative for giving hope to industry players and expressed confidence that innovations such as La Bianca’s ready-to-cook packs would boost local consumption and reduce poultry imports.
