Genius Loci, the owner of ‘The Luckiest’ lottery, has made a donation of 1,000 white canes to the Ghana Blind Union at the Accra Rehabilitation Centre, pledging expanded support for the disability community.
Presenting the white canes, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Genius Loci, Dennis Adutwum announced ongoing partnership with Ghana Blind Union and broader plans of supporting the other disability groups in the future. Mr. Adutwum announced that following their engagement with the GBU, the company has been introduced to other segments of the disability community, including individuals with physical disabilities, autism, and Down syndrome.
“Moving forward, next year we have to help and partner with them to do more,” Adutwum stated. He revealed that a needs assessment is underway, with the company prepared to “put funds together” to address critical issues at the facility.
He said observations revealed that the washroom facilities at the facility “need some upgrade,” which he said will be taken care of. According to the CEO, this gesture forms part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). He said giving back to society is central to his company mantra and it intends to undertake several of such initiatives. The donation to the Ghana Blind Union (GBU) aims to support the visually impaired to be able to move independently.

Mr Adutwum said it was a “very great day” for the organization, emphasising that the company remains committed to giving back to the society from which it operates. A shuffle was drawn for the staff and students of the facility, where attendees won various items including mobile phones, kitchen gadgets and an ultimate 43 inch television set. Mr Adutwum acknowledgment that “luck is everywhere not just for the able, but for people with disability as well.”
The Manager of the Accra Rehabilitation Centre, Seth Dzidzornu, who won the television set at the shuffle, appealed to corporate Ghana to emulate the gesture and come to the aid of the centre, which he said is in disrepair. He appealed for quality wheelchairs, noting that “It is not easy. It is expensive for them. So I appeal to all corporate organisations to assist them,” Mr Dzidzornu urged. “We are throwing this to the general public. We are calling every corporate organisation that is in a position to help, to come to the aid of these people,” Mr Adutwum concluded, saying support for the disability community is not charity, but a collective social responsibility.
Mr Adutwum said the The Luckiest has grown from 170,000 users in its first year to nearly one million this year. The company, is therefore organising this year’s final draw at Movenpick Ambassador Hotel on December 20. The winner of the final draw will take home Gh¢2.5 million.
