…How African women are rewriting their future one board at a time
Something powerful happens when a woman sits down to visualise her life. When she dares to dream, write it down, and begin to see it come alive — that’s when transformation begins. I’ve seen it time and time again through my vision board workshops and coaching sessions across Africa.
For too long, many of us were taught to leave our dreams to chance. We prayed, we hoped, but we didn’t always plan. A vision board changes that. It’s not just about cutting out pretty pictures and quotes; it’s about creating a visual map of your future — one that aligns your faith, your focus, and your actions.
When I introduce women to the power of vision boards, there’s usually a mix of curiosity and doubt. But once they begin to see how visualising a goal connects to achieving it, their energy shifts. I’ve watched women move from confusion to clarity, from fear to boldness, simply because they took time to define what they wanted and believe it was possible.
In Africa, the conversation around personal development is growing, and I’m proud to see more women embracing the idea that they can shape their own stories. Whether it’s starting a business, returning to school, building confidence, or improving relationships — it all begins with vision.
At SHIMEI Solutions, I’ve built my coaching and training programmes around this principle: that change starts within. My webinars and workshops guide women through practical steps — from setting intentions to creating vision boards that reflect faith, purpose, and action. And the results have been inspiring. Women are taking ownership of their futures, walking with confidence, and seeing doors open that once felt out of reach.
A vision board isn’t a magic wand, but it is a reminder. It keeps your goals in sight and your mind focused. It pushes you to act when you feel like giving up and reminds you why you started in the first place.
So, if you’ve been feeling stuck or uncertain about your next step, take time to create a vision for your life. Picture the woman you want to become and the life you want to live. Because the truth is, African women are no longer waiting to be chosen — we’re choosing ourselves, one board at a time.
