Eston IT College has opened this month at the FAACO Complex in Tesano, Accra, with a focus on practical training to help close the gap between the country’s education system and the needs of the technology industry.
‘Many graduates in Ghana hold academic qualifications but lack hands-on skills sought by employers.’ Eston IT College said it is designed to bridge that divide by prioritising applied learning over theory.
Courses will cover networking, cybersecurity, system administration and software development. Students will work on live enterprise systems, configure networks and respond to simulated cyber threats in controlled settings that mirror operations of multinational firms, the college said.
“We envision a future where Eston-trained professionals are driving digital transformation in organisations, industries, and governments,” said the Director and Founder of Eston IT College, Alexander Nketiah.
He said they seek to become the leading information technology training institution in Ghana and West Africa, producing graduates who are not just employable but entrepreneurial, creative, and globally competitive.
With youth unemployment hovering near 25 percent, Eston hopes to deliver transformation. The college’s intensive programmes in cybersecurity, networking, software development, and system administration are anchored by prestigious certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, and CompTIA – credentials that command respect from Silicon Valley to Singapore.
“This is about economic liberation,” Mr. Nketiah stated. ‘The college said its model combines simulation labs with project-based work to help students build both technical and problem-solving skills. Industry mentorship will link students with professionals for career guidance and insights into market trends.’
Training will run from basic digital literacy to advanced specialisation in areas such as cybersecurity and network engineering. The school said its approach is guided by four values: globally recognised certifications, practical training, professional integrity and readiness for emerging technologies.
Eston IT College said it aims to play a central role in preparing a skilled workforce for Ghana’s digital economy.
The college describes itself as a “digital transformation catalyst,” training students for global technology careers through practice-based programmes and industry certifications.
