Ghana Link Network Services Ltd, the operator of the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS), has assured businesses and government agencies that a series of upgrades currently underway will make the platform faster, more resilient and more transparent.
In a statement, the company said the improvements were designed to address the recurring technical issues that have disrupted customs operations in recent weeks.
“We have noted and fully acknowledged concerns regarding intermittent downtimes on the ICUMS platform. As a company dedicated to excellence, we assure all stakeholders that these issues have received the highest priority and are being addressed decisively,” Ghana Link said.
According to the operator, technical teams working with customs authorities and industry stakeholders have identified the causes of the disruptions and begun implementing a major infrastructure upgrade.
The measures are aimed at expanding ICUMS’ capacity to handle the growing volumes of trade data flowing through Ghana’s ports and borders.
The company stated that it is also collaborating closely with internet service providers to reinforce the system’s connectivity.
“This joint effort will ensure that all users experience smoother, faster, and uninterrupted service,” the statement added.
The upgrade programme, which is being executed on a round-the-clock basis, is expected to be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2025.
“Once finalised, they will significantly enhance performance and eliminate the recurring issues experienced by stakeholders,” Ghana Link said.
The operator also appealed for patience from importers, exporters, freight forwarders and shipping lines as the process unfolds.
“We humbly appeal to our cherished stakeholders to continue to bear with us during this crucial period,” it said.
“Your confidence in ICUMS has been the bedrock of its success, and with these upgrades, we are confident that the system will deliver a solid, stable and fast user experience with reliability, efficiency, and transparency,” Ghana Links added.
ICUMS was introduced in 2020 as part of reforms to streamline customs procedures, improve transparency and boost government revenue collection. While the platform has played a central role in Ghana’s trade facilitation, system downtimes have at times slowed clearance processes and raised concerns among industry participants.
Reaffirming its long-term vision, Ghana Link said it remained committed to delivering a platform that supports both the private sector and government.
“Ghana Link remains fully committed to providing a world-class trade facilitation system that empowers businesses, strengthens government revenue, and supports the growth of Ghana’s economy,” the company said.
