Speaking after administering the oath of office, Ofosu-Adjare said the Ministry has observed a recent burst of substandard products on the market and tasked the GSA to improve oversight. “You have been carefully selected. Know that you are expected to execute this mandate to the optimum satisfaction of Ghanaians and the President,” she told the board.
She also stressed the importance of harmonising standards under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), describing it as a key tool to unlock cross-border trade opportunities for the country.
GSA board chair, Hudu Mogtari, thanked the President and the Ministry for the appointments and said the new members bring a diverse mix of expertise to the organisation. “The job of protecting consumers, supporting industry, and contributing to national development is our top priority. We must work to meet that obligation,” he said.
