Aviation authorities have extended operational hours at the Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi and the Tamale International Airport, a move expected to boost domestic connectivity and passenger convenience.
The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) said in a joint statement, issued today, that the new schedule takes effect from June 1, 2025.
Under the new arrangements, Prempeh I International Airport will operate from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., while Tamale International Airport’s operational hours will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
“A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority to all airlines. Domestic airlines have been advised to increase their frequency to and from both airports,” the statement said.
The authorities urged the travelling public to take note of the extended hours and plan their journeys accordingly.
The move is expected to ease travel pressures, particularly for business travellers and traders who rely on flexible flight schedules between the country’s northern and southern regions.
Prempeh I International Airport was renamed in honour of the late Asantehene, Otumfuo Agyeman Prempeh I. The upgrade and rebranding are part of broader efforts to enhance regional air travel and decentralise aviation services in the country.
