Chelsea staged an impressive comeback to lift the Conference League trophy with a 4-1 win over Betis in Wroclaw, Poland.
Despite being behind at halftime, the Blues dominated the second half, thanks to Maresca’s personnel and tactical changes.
Betis took the lead in the 9th minute, courtesy of Abde Ezzalzouli’s well-taken goal, set up by Isco’s clever no-look assist.
Chelsea’s Malo Gusto was replaced by Reece James at halftime, and the skipper’s introduction sparked a change in fortunes.
Cole Palmer, given a freer role in the second half, produced a player-of-the-match performance, inspiring Chelsea’s comeback.
His dipping cross from the half-space was headed home by Enzo Fernandez in the 65th minute, leveling the score.
Palmer’s second contribution came just five minutes later, curling in a cross from the byline that Nicolas Jackson inadvertently redirected past Adrian.
With momentum in their favor, Chelsea never let up, showcasing the work of Maresca’s head coaching.
Late in the game, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jadon Sancho combined to seal the win, with Sancho’s stunning shot into the far corner proving unstoppable.
In injury time, Moises Caicedo added a fourth goal from the edge of the box, cementing Chelsea’s dominance.
This victory marked a historic milestone for the Blues, becoming the first club to win all three major European continental trophies.
Chelsea’s win also makes them the second Premier League team to lift the trophy, following in the footsteps of fellow London club West Ham United.
