Black Stars open camp ahead of four-nation tournament

Ghana’s Black Stars have commenced their training camp in London in preparation for the 2025 four-nation tournament (Unity Cup).

According to Randy Abbey, chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, the team started camping on Sunday, May 25, and will engage in three training sessions.

Although the final squad list remains under wraps, a glimpse into the team has revealed players like Kwame Opoku, Kamardini Mamudu, Benjamin Asare, and Razak Simpson as part of the contingent from the local league.

Belgian-based duo Lawrence Agyekum and Abu Francis are also to play for the Black Stars at the 2025 Unity Cup.

Ghana will face bitter rivals Nigeria on May 28 in their opening match of the four-nation tournament.

Several high-profile players are likely to miss the competition due to the scheduling conflict with FIFA’s designated window.

The team will need to rely on their available talent to make an impact in the tournament.

The Unity Cup will serve as a crucial preparation platform for Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers, where they will face Mali and Chad in the September internationals as they bid to qualify for back-to-back World Cups.
