Ghanaian fashion icon and actress Nana Akua Addo has dismissed speculations about her looking down on Telecel Ghana Music Awards and not appearing on red carpet of the event in recent times.
The fashion icon has in recent years made bold fashion statements at events and red carpets particularly the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA) in Nigeria without showing up at the TGMAs.
This has caused some Ghanaians to presume that the actress is likely shunning the TGMAs due to the low standard of red carpet appearance over the years.
Speaking on 3Lounge with AJ Sarpong on Friday, May 16, 2025, Nana Akua Addo clarified that there’s no way she could turn down an invite from Charterhouse, organizers of the TGMA.
She emphasised that she has good relations with Charterhouse as the event organizers provided her her first platform to fame.
“I would like to use this medium to correct whatever is being said out there. Charterhouse gave me the first platform to fame and they grow me to be the woman I am. I can never take that for granted. So, there’s no day that Charterhouse will invite me and I will feel I am bigger, never.
“Coming to a Charterhouse event will be like coming back home. You know like a prodigal daughter coming back home. For me, that’s how it feels, the relationship I have with Charterhouse is personal,” she explained.
Nana Akua Addo captivated audiences at the 2025 AMVCA held on May 10, 2025 in Lagos, Nigeria with a groundbreaking, tech-infused, rotating futuristic gown designed by Nicoline GH in collaboration with Metal Bender Studio and Nigerian designer Jewoola Adenike Racheal of Nichole Stylish.
The all-white ensemble, featuring wearable ABS material laser-cut into a fish scale-inspired texture with floral motifs, was described as a fusion of fashion and technology, earning widespread praise for its innovation and bold style.
