Cercle Brugge has confirmed the permanent signing of Ghana international Lawrence Agyekum from Austria giants RB Salzburg, with the 21-year-old midfielder committing to a four-year contract until 2029.
Agyekum’s impressive performances during his loan spell in the 2024/25 season, featuring in 44 matches and scoring twice with two assists, convinced the Belgian Pro League outfit to exercise their purchase option.
Agyekum’s versatility and technical skills have made him a valuable asset to Cercle Brugge, and Sporting Director Rembert Vromant expressed his enthusiasm for the player’s future development.
“He’s a versatile midfielder with strong technical skills, and he fits perfectly into our playing style,” Vromant said. “We believe in his continued development.”
Agyekum, who had been linked to several French clubs, including Strasbourg and FC Nantes, chose to stay with Cercle Brugge and is excited about the new chapter in his career.
“It’s been a busy season already, but I’m grateful to God for where I am today,” Agyekum said. “I’m happy to stay at Cercle and looking forward to what’s next.”
With a contract until 2029, Agyekum is poised to play a key role in Cercle Brugge’s future plans.
He will aim to build on his impressive numbers from last season and contribute more to the team’s success.
The Ghana midfielder’s permanent move to Cercle Brugge is a testament to his hard work and dedication, and fans will be eager to see what the future holds for this talented young player.
