The Ghana Highway Authority, acting on behalf of the Ministry of Roads and Highways has cautioned against stealing of reinforcement steel on the retaining wall near the Tantra Hill underpass on the Achimota- Ofankor road.
A video posted by the Buzsstopboys on TikTok shows exposed reinforcement steel on the retaining wall near the Tantra Hill underpass on the Achimota- Ofankor road (N6).
In a statement on May 14, 2025, the Ghana Highway Authority said an earlier assessment undertaken by its team of engineers revealed that a small portion of the retaining wall has been spalled.
According to the Ghana Highway Authority, the situation has exposed the rebars, leading to theft by unscrupulous individuals.
However, the Authority assured the public that per its assessment the underpass remains structurally sound and safe for all users.
The statement added that repairs would be carried out shortly to prevent further deterioration.
“We strongly condemn this act of vandalism and wish to remind the public that tampering with public infrastructure is a criminal offense punishable by law under the Road Traffic Regulations, 2012, (LI 2180), section 114, subsection 4(b).
“We urge all residents and commuters to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities around public infrastructure to the nearest police station or the Public Affairs Division of the Ghana Highway Authority,” the statement noted.
