The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has dismissed recent reports suggesting an expansion of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd.’s (SML) mandate to include revenue assurance oversight in the upstream petroleum and solid minerals sectors.
In a statement issued to the media on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, the GRA described these reports, carried by some media outlets, as inaccurate.
The GRA clarified that its suspension of SML’s services in the upstream petroleum and mineral sectors, which was put in place in April 2024 pending further review, remains in force.
The Authority also explicitly stated that it has not instructed SML to activate or resume operations under the 2023 Consolidation of Revenue Assurance Services Contract covering these specific sectors.
The GRA concluded by assuring stakeholders in the affected sectors and the general public of its continued commitment to protecting national revenue with integrity and transparency.
