Asante Kotoko’s media director, Sarfo Duku, has announced that the club has achieved a principal agreement with their captain, Frederick Asare, over contract renewal.
Asare’s contract with the Porcupine Warriors expires in June, and sources say he may leave the club after that.
However, in an interview with Akoma FM, Sarfo Duku, the club’s media director, hinted to the player’s readiness to continue serving the club after engaging him and other players whose contracts are about to expire.
“There are ongoing conversations between any player at Kotoko whose contract expires in a year or less for a prospective renewal, and so far the response has been favorable, since the players are all keen to stay.”
Duku however added that agreement in principle has been reached between the club and Asare.
“Frederick Asare and Asante Kotoko have both agreed in principle to a contract renewal, and we will soon finalize all documents. The player, along with Samba, is really willing to continue playing for the club.”
Asare joined Kotoko from Accra Lions in 2022 and has since become a vital member of the team.
