
The Volta Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four suspects in connection with the murder of a mobile money vendor, Christopher Ahordo, who was shot and killed during a robbery in Aflao on April 28, 2025.
In a press release dated May 12, 2025, the police stated that the arrests were made during a joint intelligence-led operation carried out between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. on May 10, involving the Volta Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPID), the Police SWAT Unit, the Operation Motherland Taskforce, and ‘ACTION NOW’, a local community watch committee in Aflao.
The suspects have been identified as:
- Michael Sewornu, aged 34
- Korku Agboada, aged 43
- Atsu Agbagla, aged 36
- Utsuku Onyeso, a 22-year-old Nigerian national
They are currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.
The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. on April 28, near the Diamond Cement Factory at Gbagblakope in Aflao, where the suspects allegedly attacked and fatally shot Christopher Ahordo, making away with a bag believed to have contained money. Ahordo died at the scene.

Police say the suspects will be arraigned before court on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
The Volta Regional Police Command is urging the public to remain vigilant and security-conscious, and to support law enforcement by sharing credible and timely information on criminal activities in their communities.
“We entreat the public to collaborate with us by providing credible and timely information about criminals,” said DSP Felix Danku, head of the Public Affairs Unit, Volta Region.
