Highlife musician Dada KD has said that he will no longer engage in political and governance matters, citing a lack of enthusiasm and interest.
The veteran singer disclosed his decision in an interview on Accra FM’s mid morning show.
“The strength to talk about these things is gone,” he said. “I’ve reached a point where I’m just doing what I can, and when my time comes, I’ll go peacefully. If I dwell too much on political issues, I might end up drinking myself into trouble.”
During the interview, a listener jokingly suggested that former President Nana Akufo-Addo should have bought a car for him. In response, Dada KD humourously asked. “Why? Am I his child?”
He clarified that although he has been associated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), he is not a registered member.
“I’ve never received anything from the party, but no matter the situation, we’ve remained loyal,” he added.
Asked about his expectations for John Mahama’s administration, Dada KD replied: “Let’s just watch and see what they’ll do,” he said, opting not to delve too much into political assertions.
