The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is today, Monday, April 28, expected to resume his mediation efforts aimed at resolving the long-standing conflict between the two factions in Bawku.
This commencement of the peace process follows assurances from President John Mahama of the government’s continued support for the Asantehene’s lead role in seeking a lasting resolution and restoring calm to the troubled Bawku enclave.
In a statement issued on April 15, 2025, the Manhyia Palace officially announced that these crucial mediation sessions would be held in Kumasi, at the Asantehene’s palace, from today, April 28, to Thursday, May 1, 2025.
These talks are considered a pivotal step in the ongoing national efforts to bring an end to the disturbances in Bawku.
