
Liverpool clinched their 20th top-flight English Premier League title following a resounding 5-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday.
Arne Slot Reds are now on 82 points, putting them out of reach of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal(67) with four league games remaining.
After Arsenal drew 2-2 against Crystal Palace in their midweek match, Liverpool required only a draw or win to secure their 20th EPL title and their first since the 2019/20 season under Jurgen Klopp.
Tottenham initially silenced the home crowd with Dominic Solanke directing James Maddison’s fine cross into the net just 12 minutes into the game.
However, what seemed like an early scare turned into a celebration as Liverpool produced a scintillating performance to overturn the result.
Luis Diaz drew level for the Reds just four minutes later, before Alex Mac Allister doubled the lead eight minutes after that.
Cody Gakpo added the third goal 10 minutes later, handing Liverpool a well-deserved 3-1 lead at halftime.
Mohamed Salah grabbed his 28th league goal of the season, becoming the highest international goal scorer in Premier League history with 185 goals, surpassing Sergio Aguero’s record.
The Egyptian forward also moved into outright fifth place in the Premier League’s all-time top goal scorers.
Udogie’s own goal six minutes later sealed the win, completing the demolition at Anfield.
The 5-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur put Liverpool out of reach of their nearest rivals Arsenal with four matches remaining.
This marked Liverpool’s first trophy in the post-Klopp era and their first EPL trophy in front of a full crowd since 1990.
Arne Slot became the fifth manager to win the Premier League title in his first season, joining an elite group of title-winning managers.
