Nations FC completed a season double over giants Asante Kotoko with a commanding 2-0 victory at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Matchday 28 of the Ghana Premier League.
Sulemana Nafiu opened the scoring with a sensational curling effort from the left flank just 15 minutes into the game, leaving Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare with no chance.
Nafiu then turned creator just before halftime, dazzling his way past defenders before delivering a pinpoint cross for Emmanuel Annor to slot home, doubling Nations FC’s lead.
The hosts, chasing a fifth consecutive win, controlled the match and held firm to secure all three points, propelling them to second on the league table with 51 points.
Kassim Mingle’s men now turn their attention to a tricky away fixture against Berekum Chelsea.
The first leg of this fixture saw Nations win by same score line and have now done the double over their city rivals for the first time.
Elsewhere, Bibiani Gold Stars edged Medeama 1-0 to move to the top of the table with 53 points, while Hearts of Oak were held to a goalless draw by Karela United.
