The Member of Parliament for South Dayi Constituency, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has observed that the Attorney-General, Godfred Dame Yeboah, should be facing prosecution for his alleged conduct of evidence tampering in the ambulance purchase trial involving Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson.
According to him, in any serious and decent democracy, Mr Dame should be behind bars by now and investigations launched into his conduct.
His assertion follows the release of an alleged audio recording of a telephone conversation between the A-G and the third accused person, Richard Jakpa, by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday.
Excerpts of the said audio and a voice believed to be that of Mr Dame asked the third accused, Mr Jakpa to secure a medical excuse duty to skip court proceedings until he [Godfred Dame] returns from an impending trip outside the country.
According to the accounts, the alleged voice of Mr Dame could not afford to miss the cross-examination of the third accused due to an alleged ploy to implicate the first accused person, former Deputy Finance Minister, Dr Ato Forson.
The NDC, amongst other demands, has called for the unconditional and immediate dismissal or resignation of Godfred Dame.
Also, the party demanded immediate prosecution of Mr Dame for “multiple violations of the laws of Ghana,” indicating that should President Akufo-Addo fail to prosecute the A-G, “a future NDC government will prosecute Godfred Dame for this heinous crime of fabrication of evidence.”

Dame must resign to save his reputation – Ansa-Asare advises
“When a crime is alleged to be committed investigations will have to be conducted…in the course of conducting a trial on behalf of the Republic, he’s alleged to have committed a crime. What he’s done is not merely professional misconduct so he ought to be investigated, dismissed from office, placed behind bars and then investigations launch into his conduct.”
