President Akufo-Addo has announced that the seat of government, Jubilee House, will from August this year be hooked onto Solar Energy.
He said the move is to signal his government’s readiness to shift Ghana away for the long reliance on thermal energy.
“The Jubilee House from August this year, will be powered by solar energy as an example to others,” the President announced in his 3rd state of the Nation Address in Parliament Thursday.
He also announced that both gas production and oil discovery have been on the rise under his administration.
“I’m pleased to announce that gas production tripled from 100m to 300m cubic feet in the last year.
“After many years of almost giving up, it took an NPP government to discover oil in Ghana. 13 oil blocks were signed under the NDC but not a single one was developed. The first one signed under my government has led to the second biggest oil discovery in Ghana”.
The President said he has not relented on his commitment of making Accra the cleanest city in Africa.
“Last year I reiterated my pledge to making Accra the cleanest City in Africa by the end of my term. There’s been a significant improvement, although I acknowledge that more can be done”.
