The Sapphire Gardens at Atasemanso in the Ashanti regional capital Kumasi was lit with the Ultimate FM Piloloo Rave on New Year’s Day, to energize residents ahead of the year 2019.
It followed the 28th December Piloloo Christmas Party at the Rattray Park which also saw huge patronage from several families.
The New Year’s edition was fun packed with lots to eat, and countless competitions among parents and children.
It was exciting to see mothers win the tag of peace against fathers; mothers’ sack race; dancing competition; fathers struggling to eat apples hanging on ropes; music chairs et-cetera.
The icing on the cake was the adult and children’s swimming pools at the Sapphire Gardens; the live band which later turned into a karaoke competition among parents and the adult corner where a table of men served all kinds of drinks, food and khebabs.
Parents who could not hold back their joy at the turn of activities at the event ended up asking for the next date for a Piloloo.
Giving her impression about the event, a mother who walked in with six children Mrs Linda Opoku told Ultimate News, “I am very sad I came in the afternoon because I should have been here earlier to have more fun. I can’t even get my children to go home with me because they are still having fun in the pool; some are in the bouncing castle and you saw some of my children helping me when i was pulling the tag of peace.”
“It’s been exciting and what even makes me more happy is that we won the tag of peace,” another mother Rosemary Frempah pointed out.
“Every one of my children had an activity to participate in. It’s been a while since some of us even say some games of old like “Oware, Ludo and some other games but we saw them here. I pray you organise another one here because we are coming in our numbers to have fun all day.”
The children were certainly not left out of the fun as they battled it out in their own tournaments, amusement games and academic quizzes to win the prices for the day.
A member of team Barcelona Winfred Frimpong from the Revival International School gave it all the adjectives.
“It’s fabulous, it’s nice, it’s great, I am very happy to be here” an elated Winfred recounted.
“I came with my mother and brothers and we are enjoying ourselves. It’s so nice we have swum and also jumped around in the trampoline and bouncing castles and a lot of games,” a young Yasmin Boateng recounted.
To EIB Northern Sector Brands and Marketing Manager, Nana Benyin Anumel, it was an event to kill two birds with one stone. Creating a platform for several families to bond and have fun while drawing attention to a plush and well equipped event ground in Kumasi.
“We decided to make people in Kumasi know about the newest location for such events in Kumasi and that’s how come we partnered with Safire to do this event and it’s been overwhelming we are counting close to two thousand-and-over people and I think for a start with this partnership, its good job done.”
Looking ahead into the year 2019, Mr Nana Benyin Anumel outlined, “Ultimate FM has traditional events like Ultimate Carwash, Mother Supremo, Security Services Cookfest and we are going to grow them.”
He promised surprises that the public and loyal listeners of Ultimate 106.9 FM should be looking forward to.
