While there's something to be said for sticking with the devil you know, sometimes that routine can get a little boring.
There are three standard drinks that everyone defaults to at the bar: Gin and tonic, Jack and Coke, and vodka soda.
And while there's something to be said for sticking with the devil you know, sometimes that routine can get a little boring. That's why we came up with the perfect upgrade to vodka soda—one main recipe, with three variations—in this video.
A note: While the recipes below use jiggers as measurements for clarity, the video above uses "parts." What's the difference? Parts really means the proportions, so if you were making this recipe for a crowd, you could use cups (1/2 cup lime juice, 1 cup liqueur, 1 1/2 cups vodka, etc) instead of jiggers to make a larger batch.
Le Grand Fizz
1. Fill a glass with ice.
2. Add a half jigger (3/4 ounces) of lime juice, a jigger (1 1/2 ounces) of elderflower liqueur, and a jigger and a half (2 1/4 ounces) of vodka.
3. Top with two jiggers (3 ounces) of chilled soda water.
4. Add three lime wedges to the glass. Stir.
Le Citron Grand Fizz
1. Fill a glass with ice.
2. Add a half jigger (3/4 ounces) of lemon juice, a jigger (1 1/2 ounces) of elderflower liqueur, and a jigger and a half (2 1/4 ounces) of lemon-flavored vodka.
3. Top with two jiggers (3 ounces) of chilled soda water.
4. Add three lemon wedges to the glass. Stir.
L'Orange Grand Fizz
1. Fill a glass with ice. Add three orange wedges.
2. Add a half jigger (3/4 ounces) of freshly-squeezed orange juice, one jigger (1 1/2 ounces) of elderflower liqueur, and a jigger and a half (2 1/4 ounces) of orange-flavored vodka.
3. Top with two jiggers (3 ounces) of chilled soda water. Stir.
La Poire Grande Fizz
1. Fill a glass with ice. Add three pear slices.
2. Add one jigger (1 1/2 ounces) of elderflower liqueur and a jigger and a half (2 1/4 ounces) pear-flavored vodka.
3. Top with two jiggers (3 ounces) of chilled soda water. Stir.
