Udinese midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has backed his national team captain, Asamoah Gyan to lift the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy before retiring from the game.
The Black Stars have failed to win the coveted continental trophy for the past 35 years, despite qualifying for the semi-finals of the last six tournaments.

And with time running out for majority of the senior players, many have doubted if the current squad could end that trophy drought.
One of such players is Asamoah Gyan who will soon turn 32.
The Black Stars captain has had a glittering international career so far, emerging as Ghana’s all-time top-scorer after scoring 50 goals.
And Agyemnag Badu believes his international team-mate can lead Ghana to that elusive fifth AFCON trophy.
Badu told GHOne TV: “Gyan has been a wonderful leader, he is great and has done a lot for the national team.”

“For now he is the all-time top scorer and just recently he was able to score his 50th goal which is a very wonderful achievement.
“I just hope he wins the Nations Cup title with the Black Stars to crown his achievement. I will be happy if he leads the team to win the trophy.”
Agyemang Badu has played together with Gyan in the Black Stars since 2008, and the duo were part of the Ghana squad that finished as runners-up in the 2010 and 2015 AFCON.
