Residents disclosed that the masquerades were annoyed over the fact that the Muslims had called for their prayer and fast during their traditional festival.
The residents of Ikun Ekiti in Ekiti state were thrown into confusion on Tuesday, May 30, when some masquerades invaded the central mosque in the community and attacked the Muslim faithfuls who were praying in the mosque.
Residents disclosed that the masquerades were annoyed over the fact that the Muslims had called for their prayer and fast during their traditional festival.

According to the reports, their actions was seen as a taboo in their tradition.
LIB reports that the police, however, stormed the community just in time to avert a clash between the Muslims and traditional worshippers.
