
Togolese President Faure Gnassingbe arrived in Zambia on Monday for the start of his two-date state visit.
The Togolese leader’s plane landed in the morning at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka, the country’s capital, and he was met by his Zambian counterpart Edgar Lungu.
The two leaders were expected to hold bilateral talks.
Amos Chanda, spokesperson for the Zambian president,said the visit will further strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.
The two leaders, he said, were expected to discuss cooperation in key areas, including the mining sector, adding that the two countries were keen to improve relations in various economic sectors.
He further said peace and security issues were expected to be among the issues the two leaders will discuss while the Zambian leader was also scheduled to undertake a reciprocal visit to Togo in the second half of 2017. Enditem
