The Accra Circuit Court 2, presided over by His Honour Isaac Addo, has handed a 24-month custodial sentence to a 19-year-old unemployed youth, Rashid Aziz, after he pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy, unlawful entry, and stealing.
His alleged accomplice, Nelson Godwin Ezel, 20, also unemployed, pleaded not guilty and has been remanded into police custody.
The two were arraigned on the three charges stemming from events that occurred on May 15, 2025, at Madina in the Greater Accra Region.
According to Chief Inspector Jonas Lawer, who led the prosecution, the two young men conspired and unlawfully entered the room of one Fati Ahmed with the intent to commit theft.
They allegedly made away with an iPhone 11 Pro Max valued at GH¢5,500, a Samsung tablet worth GH¢1,200, jewellery including a necklace, bracelets, a pair of earrings valued at GH¢3,000, and cash amounting to GH¢3,000 — bringing the total value of the stolen items to GH¢12,700.
Rashid Aziz, upon his appearance before the court, pleaded guilty simpliciter and was immediately convicted and sentenced to 24 months’ imprisonment.
Nelson Godwin Ezel, however, denied all charges. The court has since remanded him and adjourned the case to June 11, 2025, for continuation.
