
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II yesterday resumed mediation efforts between the two factions (Mamprusis and Kusasis) involved in the ongoing Bawku conflict.
Chiefs and leaders of the two factions converged at the Jubillee Hall of the Manhyia Palace for the start of the proposed mediation process.
The mediation, which was held behind closed doors under tight security was presided over by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Earlier on, the Asante Overlord appealed to the factions in the Bawku crisis to remain calm, assuring them of his determination to resolve their differences.
This follows assurance by President John Mahama that the peace process led by the Asantehene would continue as part of national efforts to restore calm in the troubled region.
President John Mahama has assured that the Asantehene is ready to mediate the Bawku crisis to ensure lasting peace in the volatile area and appealed to all stakeholders in the Bawku crisis to cooperate, for a peaceful resolution of their differences by the Asante King.
