INSIDE STORY
Credible information available to this reporter indicates that in the last examination period of the university, the dismissed student entered the exams hall with a mobile phone.
Considering the rules governing examination at the school, which forbids students from entering exams hall with phones, the student was directed by the Invigilator on duty to take his phone outside, before he would be allowed to sit for the exams.
Abubakar consequently obliged and took the phoneoutside and reportedly placed it inside one of the bags of the student’s outside.
After the exams, Abubakar appeared to have forgotten the exact bag he placed his phone in. As a result, he accosted a wrong student and accused him of harbouring his phone, but the said student denied.
An angry looking Abubakar reportedly chased the said student to his hall of residence and demanded he handed his phone back to him. Information has it that the student left the hall knowing very well that he had not taken the phone as being alleged.
According to The Chronicle’s sources, Abubakar also left the hall only to return later and attacked colleagues in the hall.
As if he was not satisfied, the dismissed student returned the following day, this time with some thugs and again attacked the students in the hall and ransacked the place. The security man on duty, who tried to intervene, was also attacked with cutlass.
A formal report was then made to the University, after which Abubakar was dragged before the Disciplinary Committee of the school.
He could not justify why he had to employ the services of thugs to attack a fellow student and also inflicting cutlass wounds on a security personnel on duty, when he appeared before the committee and was subsequently dismissed.
