
According to the police, the incident, which occurred last Saturday involved three masked armed men who made away with laptops, phones, an unspecified amount of money and a TV set.
The armed men also took away the MP’s Toyota Land Cruiser which was retrieved by the police after it was abandoned in Kwadaso.
Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Godwin Ahianyo in a Citi News interview indicated that although the police have made no arrest yet, they are committed to bringing perpetrators of the crime to book.
“The suspects stormed the residence of the MP and robbed him of some unspecified amount of money, laptop and some other personal belongings. We are assuring the public that we will do everything within our means possible for our officers to get the robbers arrested. So far, no arrest has been made but the vehicle has been retrieved. For now, we will say it is robbery.”

According to the police, the MP in his statement said the armed men who were at his residence for about three hours subjected him and his family to inhumane treatment.
The MP also alleged that the armed men also said they were there to kill him, but they had forgiven him.
ASP Godwin Ahianyo said the police are looking into the claim of assassination attempt although current investigations are focused mainly on the robbery.
He further gave assurances that the police are working hard to arrest the perpetrators of the crime.
“We are taking some leads and we hope and pray that very soon we will be able to get the perpetrators arrested. Some CID men were at his residence to pick some leads. We are also pleading with the public to help us by way of giving us information. We are assuring the general public that in due time we will get the perpetrators who committed this act arrested and made to the face the full rigors of the law,” he said.
