
This comes after the Drug Law Enforcement Unit of the Brong Ahafo Police Command, Tuesday arrested a cashew farmer with 41 fertiliser mini bags containing dry leaves suspected to be cannabis.
he 48-year-old John Kwabena Mosi, popularly known as Anane, was arrested in his house at Brodi, near Sampa in the Jaman North district.
Mr Mosi admitted ownership and possession of the substances upon interrogation. He also said he produced them from his cannabis farm, within his cashew farm at Brodi.
He again said he sells the Cannabis, popularly known as ‘wee’, to Ghanaians and Ivorians between GH¢120.00 and GH¢150.00 per bag.
Nana Kwaku Duah, the Brong Ahafo Regional Crime Officer, speaking to Joy News said with a special unit for drug law enforcement at the regional command, Sunyani, they are taking the fight against illegal drugs to the sources of production, especially in the Jaman and Tain districts.
It would be recalled that a Techiman Circuit Court last year remanded in police custody a traditional leader in the Tain district also for illegal possession of Indian hemp, variously called wee.
Nana Kwasi Dapaa, the then Krontihene of Badu-Adamu was arrested by the Wenchi District Police Command for possessing the substances suspected to be ‘weed.’
