Bibiani Gold Stars maintained their impressive home form with a 1-0 win over league leaders Aduana FC at Dun’s Park on Sunday, a result that has shaken up the top end of the Ghana Premier League table.
Samuel Atta Kumi scored the deciding goal in the 16th minute from the penalty spot after Aduana were punished for a defensive foul inside the box.
The victory pushes Gold Stars up into the top four as they continue to show strong credentials in their title defence. Their defensive organisation once again proved vital, as they secured another clean sheet at home, frustrating an Aduana side that came into the match on a seven-game unbeaten run.
Aduana, who started the weekend at the summit, struggled to find their usual rhythm in attack. Despite a determined push for an equaliser in the second half, clear chances were limited, and Gold Stars held firm to protect their early lead.
The defeat sees Aduana drop from first place, underlining how tight the race at the top of the table has become. Both sides now turn their attention to upcoming fixtures that could shape their league ambitions. Gold Stars will travel to face Samartex, while Aduana return home to meet a revitalised Basake Holy Stars.
