Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Frederick Acheampong says they are hoping the newly assembled technical team will steer the Black Stars to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.After failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament for the first time in two decades, a new technical team has been named.Otto Addo, who has come under after failing to qualify the team for the AFCON remains as the head coach while Winfried Schfer has been appointed as technical advisor and technical director of the GFA.Black Satellites head coach, Desmond Offei, has been promoted to the Black Stars' technical bench as an assistant coach, replacing German Joseph Laumann.Offei will join assistants John Paintsil and Fatawu Dauda, who will continue in their roles under Otto Addo.Kris Perquy will serve as the team's psychologist, while Gregory De Grauwe will take on the role of video analyst.Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, Acheampong expressed confidence in the newly assembled technical team and said he hopes the technical team qualify the country for the Mundial which is scheduled to be hosted in USA, Canada and Mexico.We listened to what Ghanaians were saying and we hope these appointments will get us the results to be able to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, he said.Meanwhile, Minister-designated for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams has hinted that the newly assembled technical team will be reviewed.We will review the GFAs new appointment onto the Black Stars technical team, he told Sporty FM.This will be my first engagement with the GFA. Can we get a cheaper option than Winfried Schaffer? Can we pay him less, or does his contract allow for a review?We will look at all that, he added.The newly assembled technical team adds up to 15 people.
