Swansea City boss Paul Clement has jumped to the defense of Jordan Ayew who is yet to find the back of the net in four games after arriving from Aston Villa during the winter transfer window.
The Swans have lost their last three games, making their game against West Ham United this weekend a must win.
“We missed Fernando – he is a big focal point for us,” Clement said, as reported by his club's official website.
“That is not to say Jordan Ayew did not play well. He gave us another dynamic that Fernando doesn’t have.
“But of course Fernando is a miss. He has an ankle issue that I am hoping will not keep him out for long. Wednesday, [a win against Tottenham Hotspur] is achievable, although he is still a doubt for that game.
“He has a chance, but we are very much looking at him day to day.”
“We have to win games and we haven’t done that in the last three,” Clement added.
“We are disappointed about that, but we have put a point on the board and we will have to see if that is really valuable or not enough at the end of the season.”
The forward joined Swansea City in a swap deal from Championship side Aston Villa.
