The Disciplinary Committee (DC) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has ruled that the 2016 MTN FA Cup preliminary round tie between Sekondi XI Wise and New Edubiase United be rescheduled.
Edubiase failed to show up on the originally scheduled March 25 date for the game at the Essipong Stadium.
In response to an official protest by XI Wise who reported for the match, Edubiase said the club was not officially informed of the match date by organizers, the FA Cup Committee.
New Edubiase United argued that no accredited official of the club was also communicated to by the GFA and further refereed the Disciplinary Committee to the list of the officials of the club accredited for the season with the GFA.
The Bekwai-based club also stated that the club cannot be held responsible for communication sent to the wrong person.
The Disciplinary Committee’s finding absolved Edubiase of blame and dismissed the petitioner’s plea to cause the former’s forfeiture of the match.
The DC also urged “the FA Cup Committee to reassure itself at all times that it deals with only registered club officials and official club emails.”
The match has now been fixed for Wednesday, April 12.
