Nii Adjei Tawiah (M) lifting the award as others look on
The Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly (KoKMA) has received an award for emerging the best performing Assembly among the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDA) in the country.
The National District Awards, held on Friday, March 1, 2024 in Accra, recognised the Assembly for emerging winner of the 2022 District League Table (DLT) after ranking 6th in 2021.
It was jointly organised by the Millennium Excellence Foundation and the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) on the theme, “Recognising Transparency, Accountability and Evidence-based Decision-making at the National District Level.”
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of KoKMA, Nii Adjei Tawiah, together with the Assembly’s presiding member, Abdul Mumuni Maikano and other members received the award.
In his remarks, Mr. Tawiah expressed gratitude, indicating, “I have always known that we are on the right path.”

DTL
The District League Table (DLT) since its inception in 2014 has served as one of the important tools in promoting transparency, accountability and evidence-based decision-making at the national and sub-national levels.
The tool complements National Development Planning Commission’s (NDPC) mandate of monitoring and evaluating development outcomes at the sub-national level. It highlights the inequalities and disparities in wellbeing across the country.
It also provides a multi-sectoral, integrated assessment of how Ghana is developing across all its districts, based on selected sectors and indicators which measure critical aspects of the sectors’ development.
The 2022 DLT version ranked all 261 Metropolises, Municipalities and Districts to determine the wellbeing of citizens based on eight sectors and eighteen indicators, with a focus on the survival and development of children.
The selected indicators have also been broadened to incorporate SDGs and Agenda 2063 indicators to generate appropriate district level data and analysis for achieving these international commitments.
The sectors of focus are education, health, nutrition, water, sanitation, energy, governance and child protection. Child protection was a new sector introduced in the 2022 DLT to assess improvement in vital statistics for children.
Generally, the production of the DLT on an annual basis has strengthened efforts in generating regular and accurate administrative data overtime.
