The chiefs addressing the media
Some chiefs in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency in the Eastern Region have urged the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to shield performing Members of Parliament (MPs) from competition in the party’s impending parliamentary primaries.
The chiefs, numbering about 15, are from Adoagyiri, Dobro, Daamang, Ahwerease, Yaw Gyan, Chinto, Duayeden, Ahodwo, Ntoaso, Okobeyeyie, Sakyikrom, Oparekrom among others.
At a press conference in Nsawam, the chief of Okobeyeyie, Nana Opare Odei II, speaking on behalf of his colleagues, stated that the MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, who also serves as the Majority Chief Whip, should be protected.
The chief said Mr. Annoh-Dompreh had exceeded the people’s expectations and earned the admiration of Nananom for the development projects undertaken in the area.
Nana Odei II highlighted some of the MP’s achievements in education, health, rural electrification, sanitation, sports, rural telephony, and employment, describing the projects as unprecedented.
“Nsawam-Adoagyiri is already on the path of progress under his leadership. We need him to focus his mind on what he is already doing without having to leave government business and others to run around in the name of campaigning for primaries,” the chiefs indicated.
They want the NPP hierarchy to ensure that Frank Annoh-Dompreh goes uncontested in the upcoming parliamentary primaries so that ongoing development projects are not halted.
