
Accra Metro Lions Club organizes a workshop for unemployed youth on Saturday, 24th of August, 2019.
This was in partnership with Iraisers International and Firmus Advisory Ltd.
The event took place at the Osu Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Hall at 9 a.m.
About 40 participants attended the programme which was to commemorate International youth day which fell on the 12th of August, 2019.

“This was to give the youth the opportunity to establish their own small businesses (with limited resources), nurture and grow them into profitable and sustainable ones that meet their needs and that of others.
In her opening address, the president of the club, Lion Sandra Kesse-Amankwa mentioned that the club intends to inculcate the culture of entrepreneurship in the youth, who are future leaders, by providing support systems in the form of skills training and starter packs to a number of participants to enable them to establish their businesses outside the formal market.
The workshop proceeding included a presentation on a step by step approach to how to start a business and maintain it by Mr. Alex Twumasi of Firmus Advisory Ltd. and one by Mr. Jonathan Quaynor of Iraisers International, on opportunities in skill training for establishing a business. He demonstrated to participants how to prepare liquid soap. The workshop was very interactive and educative for the participants and interest was expressed in learning other skill training programmes offered by Iraisers International.
Accra Metro Lions club belongs to LIONS Club International established by Melvin Jones in 1917 with the aim of providing humanitarian services to the underprivileged worldwide. LIONS is an acronym which stands for Liberty, Intelligence, Our Nations’ Safety.
As of 2018, Lions Clubs International had over 1.4 million members in 46,000 clubs in over 207 countries and geographical sphere. The Lions club has a focus on sight, hearing and speech conservation; diabetes awareness; youth outreach; environmental issues; relief from hunger and child cancer.
