REVIEW
The first time I held the Samsung Galaxy A10, my initial comment was how good it looked and felt in my hand.
Without checking any other specifications, I felt that this phone was a budget device and that I would drop my current device just for it, only because of the aesthetics.
Yes, it is plastic but it’s a budget phone and will cost less, so why not? The disadvantage of having the plastic body, however, is the finger smudges, which means that I would have to always wipe it.
Upon looking closer, I found one thing I used to hate some Samsung devices for – the speaker was at the back. This meant that no matter how good the sound quality is, one cannot enjoy it while the phone lies on a flat surface with the screen facing up. No matter how good a phone is, that is a no-no for me.
The 6.2inch screen works well for me; I hate huge or too small screens. This size fits my hand just well enough.
The screen’s brightness and colours are vibrant enough that I won’t have to struggle to view the elements on the screen.
The Samsung Galaxy A10 lacks a fingerprint sensor but has a facial recognition feature that is not quite reliable.
If you are in a bit of a hurry to use the device, it will be better to use the pattern or pin code.
The 3400mAh battery capacity is strong enough to last me the day.
For me, this is one of the few positive standouts in the device. I wouldn’t have to worry about charging it too many times in the day.
The second positive is the 32GB internal storage capacity. To top this off, there is a microSD slot that’s separate from the dual SIM slots. The slot allows you to enhance the storage up to 512GB.
Galaxy A10 rocks Android Pie, along with Samsung’s own One UI version 1.1. It looks pretty neat, with a few pre-installed apps. It has a game mode, but I didn’t find anything special about this mode. It looks like it was just put there to separate the games from other apps.
The phone comes with a 2GB RAM and an Exynos 7884 chipset. In the layman’s terms, this gives the Galaxy A10 an entry-level smartphone feel.
As soon as I try using a highly intensive app, it starts lagging. Also, after using the phone for an extended time, it starts heating up.
One particular thing that didn’t impress me about the Galaxy A10 was the camera. Without good lighting, the images are not as sharp as you would ordinarily want in a good smartphone from Samsung. At night, the photos taken with the device are particularly unimpressive.
Verdict
The Samsung Galaxy A10 is a phone that looks very good, with decent performance but a very unimpressive camera.
However, considering the price, this is to be expected.
If you are looking at a device with a good camera ability, this is not the device for you.
In the same light, if you are thinking of a phone that is more oriented towards performance, this is not your phone.
